Jon Labrie
Jon Labrie was born and raised in Los Angeles, and has been an IT systems analyst for nearly 20 years. A personal interest in filmmaking eventually led to a specialization in digital imaging technologies. In 1996 he accepted the role of Chief Technical Officer at Weta Digital, Ltd. in Wellington.
Weta recently received an Academy Awardİ for their work on The Fellowship of the Ring, the first film in The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, and are currently busy with the second film in the series, The Two Towers.
As CTO Jon was the principal architect of the IT infrastructure at Weta. During his tenure the organization grew from 7 digital artists to nearly 200. Weta is now counted among the top digital effects facilities in the world, and is one of the largest single computer sites in New Zealand.
