I studied Computer Science and Mathematics at Massey University, receiving a first class BSc(Hons) in 1992. The following year I started a PhD in Computer Science, studying the relative importance of different human-to-human communication media in supporting computer-based collaborative work. I remained at Massey University until January 1995 and then transferred to the University of Waikato, completing my PhD in 1996.
After working for a year as a Research Assistant in Computer Science Department at Waikato, I moved to Denmark to take up a post as Assistant Professor at Odense University.
I moved back to New Zealand in February 2000, to join the Computer Science Department here at Waikato. Since then I have been involved in a number of externally funded research projects, as well as teaching a few courses.
