Personal Description

I took up my BS Computer Science degree in Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology, Iligan, Philippines on 1993. From the time I graduated, I worked as a programmer/analyst and an IT and computing science lecturer (1993-2006). My interest in research started in the year 1999 when I took up Master of Science in Computer Science in De La Salle University, Philippines. My masters thesis is on exploiting structural similarities of Philippine languages for a multi-lingual machine translation system. Combining the Natural Language Processing (NLP) knowledge I learned from my masters thesis and the industry-learned Software Engineering techniques I applied as programmer/analyst, I decided to work on NLP for Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) system as my PhD research topic here in the University of Waikato since May 2006.
