PhD Topic: "Using machine learning to detect events in traffic flows."
My PhD research investigates different methods for fusing events in autonomous networks. Autonomous networks are self-managing networks, and their ability to adapt is greatly determined by their ability to detect events. An event is when something unusual happens in the network. It can either be an anomaly or something completely innocent that's not a part of the normal behaviour inside the network.
There are already methods for detecting events inside autonomous networks that I use as input for my research. I am investigating whether fusing events generated by the pre-existing methods together will yield a better understanding of what happens inside the network than what might be achieved without fusing the events.
