Research Interests

Thesis Topic: "Communication software for children with special needs."

The use of internet services is countless but one of its latest and popular features is its use as the median of communication. There is chat software, online societies, audio/video calling software and not to forget the ever addictive Massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPG) where the player is constantly involved in interaction with other players in a virtual game world. Unfortunately, children with intellectual disabilities are unable to use these free services as their design is complex for them.

The aim of my PhD is to come to an understanding of the special needs of these children through the use of requirements elicitation techniques. I will be using user-centred design methodologies to come up with software that will encourage communication/social interaction while providing entertainment.
