Future Developments

Below you will find links to some pages that we have developed to explore various features that we are considering for integration into the various models.

Representation of objects (no link)

A major issue raised by this project has been the form in which an object should be visually represented. It may be:
a) as found in the ground (e.g. green if metal)
b) as cleaned (e.g. yellow if metal)
c) as drawn for a project report (e.g. black and white)
d) photographed
e) redrawn as a complete object
f) drawn as if in use (e.g. a ring placed on a finger
... etc.

This page shows objects beneath the ground changing when dragged to the surface.

Time Line (no link)

The same page includes a 'time line' on the left of the screen to indicate in which historical period we are located. Clicking on a different period in history will take you to a page onthe same topic, but located at that time period.

Animated graphics (no link)

A model from the Corinium Museum was photographed from eight different locations and these are put together to create a rotating object when you drag the cursor across the picture. For greater realism, more photographs would be required - ideally, 16 or 32.

Sound (no link)

A page has been produced in which some of the information previously conveyed by text, is conveyed by spoken sound. While the page works well with some browser settings, it does not work with all. Some browser plug-ins insist on showing a browser page with sound player controls (e.g. the QuickTime plug-in) and these can destroy the intended effect. A simple solution is to uninstall such plug-ins.

Other imaginary worlds

Simplified models weree developed as a basis for considering full models of an Iron Age house, and a First Century AD house.
