Virtual three-dimensional
models created by these architects, including a VRML model of a house
and a bank.

Sculptor
Cyber Architect
As the author
points out this site is an experiment. He started it as he felt that too
many of the worlds he saw were 'disney style' replications of reality and
nothing that deserved the title 'architecture'
-
Grand

A VRML model
of the interior of this station in New York.
-

shapeTwentieth Century consciousness".
-

-
Construct.net
This is the
'backyard' of the construct.com site. It contains some experimental
VRML 'virtual architecture'.
-
There are plenty
of sites that contain 3D architetural models, but not in VRML. The
best source is Great
Building Collection This site contains links to about fity 3D
models of famous buildings world wide. Pisa
in Virtual Reality site uses Quicktime VR.

The
VENUE Project has produced a report which covers VRML: New
Technologies for Urban Designers
by Michael Batty,
Martin Dodge, Bin Jiang, Andy Smith, University College London (01/05/00)
Ceramics
Virtual
Ceramics Gallery
This
is a collection of VRML models of real ceramic objects created by the Japanese
artist, K. Inoue.
Virtual
ceramic mug
Andy
Boucher conducted a project to investigate (re-)contructing a ceramic mug
in VRML. A report includes the results and a description of the problems
encountered.
Virtual
Potter's wheel
This
is a working, real-time model of a potter's wheel, by means of which (it
is claimed) you can make your own pots in VRML.
Furniture
Charles
Monaco
This
site attempts to show how a piece of furniture can be examined and explained
in VRML. Unfortunately, the image is very small.
Wyka
Warzecha
This
is no a VRML site, but contains a 3D configurator for arranging furniture
in a space.
Virtual
lathe
There
is now a working VRML model of the virtual lathe - a project started in
1992. You can operate the lathe yourself - with sound effects.
Graphic
design & Illustration
Dilbert
The
popular cartoon character in 3D.
Warp
An
example of interactive VRML - you can interactively warp an image
Aqualand
This
aquatic-based site shows how VRML can be linked directly to HTML to create
a sophisticated multimedia presentation.
Sign
Language
One
of several sites that contain animated VRML models of sign language
Virtual
Domestic DIY
Bob
Vila's animated demonstration of a domestic water heating system.
Virtual
Elevator
A
very good working model in VRML 2.0. You can press the buttons, enter
the elevator and change your viewpoint. A good illustrationof a working
system.
Medical
illustration
This
virtual neuro-surgery site contains a working VRML model designed to train
surgeons.
WoodPusher
is multiuser VRML environment that lets you play chess, OK, not that interesting
in itself but it is an interesting example of how VRML can be used for
interactive illustration.
Jewellery
Project
925
claims
to be a new approach (see below) to selling jewellery using 3D. The site
allows clients to design a piece of jewelry from a set of modular components.
Jigowatt
Jigowatt
shows how 3D models of rings can be presented along with technical information.
This is a simple yet practical application of 3D technologies.
Product
design
Construct.net
This company
have a lot of commercial work on their site which they have done for clients
- for example, check out the chrome
clock.
Virtual
Horizons
This
company's site show how VRML adds a little something to presentations of
products such as tail-lifts.
Animated
Photocopier
This
is a copier which comes to pieces so you can take the stuck paper out of
it. Easier to fix than the real thing! Quite amusing but could probably
not be seriously used for training as it is much too small.
VRML
Telerobotics
VRML
demonstration of a robot that can be controlled through a VRML environment.
