COMP477, COMP520, COMP591 and ENGG492
Project Selection and Approval

Students wishing to undertake a COMP477, COMP520 or COMP591 project need to select and sign up for their project before the end of the semester preceding their project. Deadlines for 2015 projects are given below. Deadlines for ENGG projects will differ from these (formal sign-ups don't happen until early next year—see Janis Swan in Engineering for details), but you can still choose a project and supervisor early if you wish.

You must first print out a copy of the relevant project selection form, then discuss potential projects with at least three staff members offering supervision (see below), and have them sign the form to confirm this discussion has taken place. Once a project has been decided upon and agreed to by both student and supervisor, you should hand the completed project selection form in at the Computer Science office (G1.21) by the appropriate date.

Please note that if you are enrolled in a Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science (PGDipCompSci) you also need to make sure the PGDipCompSci Coordinator has completed a PGDipCompSci Form outlining the start and end dates of your PGDipCompSci before selecting a COMP591 project.

Project selection forms can be found here:

Project selection deadlinesStaff will begin to sign project selection forms for 2015 projects from Wednesday, 15 October, 2014.

For all projects commencing at the start of the 2015 A semester, project selection forms must be submitted by Friday 14th November 2014.

For all projects commencing at the start of the 2015 B semester, project selection forms must be submitted by Friday 17th April 2015.

If you are unable to meet, or have already missed, the relevant deadline, you should contact the course coordinator as soon as possible.

Honours/Projects Information SessionOn Thursday, 9 October 2014, 2pm in S.1.04, the 3rd year Honours/Projects Information Session will be held to explain the 4th year options available to students in Computer Science: BCMS, BCMS(Hons), BSc(Hons), BE, BE(Hons). If you are interested in doing any of these programmes please come along to this meeting.
COMP477 projects available in 2015:The following projects are available for selection from staff members of Computer Science:

More projects will be added in the coming weeks. Please check back regularly for the updated project list.

COMP520, COMP591, ENGG492 projects
available in 2015:
The following projects are available for selection from staff members of Computer Science: More projects will be added in the coming weeks. Please check back regularly for the updated project list.

Some or all of these projects are also suitable for COMP591 or ENGG492—please talk to the supervisor to see whether this is the case for any particular project.

ENGG492 Enrolment:In addition to filling out the ENGG492 Project Selection Form, you will still need to follow the process set by the School of Engineering to enrol in ENGG492.
COMP591 PGDipCompSci Enrolment:Please note that if you are enrolled in a Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science (PGDipCompSci) you also need to make sure the PGDipCompSci Coordinator has completed a PGDipCompSci Form outlining the start and end dates of your PGDipCompSci before selecting a COMP591 project.
