Where do I come from?

I arrived here in Hamilton, New Zealand on April 28, 2006. I am now presently pursuing my PhD study here in the Department of Computer Science, University of Waikato under the supervision of Dr. Tony Smith and with other supervisors Dr. Mark Utting and Dr. Mike Mayo. I came from the Philippines where I was a computer science associate professor and programmer/analyst for more than 12 years.

What is my research?

I am working on a Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) system empowered by Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques. This system will take the requirements document of a system under development as input, linguistically analyze it and generate use case specifications and underlying UML class models.

In this research, I am investigating the problems of requirements document that make it difficult to automatically generate class diagrams. I am investigating whether controlling the language used in writing the requirements and generating the use case specifications from the requirements document could improve generation of class diagrams.

What do I teach here in the University of Waikato?

COMP 208  Programming with Data Structure(Semester B 2006)

COMP 106  General Programming 1  (C#)     (Summer 2007)

COMP 206  General Programming 2  (Java)   (Summer 2007)

COMP 106  General Programming 1  (C#)     (Summer 2008)

What is the research area that interests me ?

I am actively involved in the research for Automated Software Engineering. This area comprises the following:

    1. Automated Requirements Elicitation, Development and Management

    2. Automated Analysis

    3. Automated Design

    4. Automated Implementation

    5. Automated Testing

    6. Automated Deployment

In my PhD study, I am designing strategies and methods for automatic requirements development, automatic object-oriented analysis, and partially automatic object-oriented design.

Join me to explore knowledge on this area and, who knows, we could contribute to how people develop software automatically.
